Aiseesoft Audio Converter can extract audio from video and convert between audio formats. The program supports a very wide range of both audio and video input formats. However, only audio formats are available as output.
The program shares the same graphic user interface with other more general converters by the same developer. That would explain the presence of some useless buttons, which are intended for video editing and thus have no meaning when converting to audio formats. Such is the case of the Trim and Effect functions. All this makes the interface more complex than it is actually necessary. Perhaps the only authoring feature that makes sense here is the Merge function, which allows you to combine the audio tracks of several files.
Multiple files can be entered for conversion. While ripping audio from DVD, you will be able to select the track you want to extract. The selected files can be previewed and while you do that, you can take snapshots of your favorite frames. The program supports an impressive array of output profiles, which have been organized according to such types as General Audio and Lossless Audio. Moreover, you can create and save your own profiles. The files on the list can be assigned to individual conversion profiles, although there is also a button to use the same parameters for all of them.
In general, Aiseesoft Audio Converter can do its job well. Yet, it is for you to decide if it makes sense buying a crippled version of a more complete application just to save a few bucks.
